You see all these parents and even teachers now a days doing everything they can to make sure every child is comfortable. Personally, I think George Carlin was right about this idea of child worship. Seriously, when a kid comes in last in a race, tell it like it is. Kids these days never get to hear the words "you lose.". Now, I don't know what you think, but isn't it better to let kids know they lost, rather than everyone being a winner. Besides, if you hadn't noticed, if everyone is a 'winner' then what is the point of things like competition? Would you give every olympic athlete a medal? No. So why give all kids ribbons and trophies if they didn't win? It makes no sense.
How are kids supposed to grow up never being told they lost? I'm not saying poking fun and calling them a loser, but losses build character. I don't know about you, but I think that kids who 'never lose' would just grow up to be arrogant assholes. How are they gonna handle getting older. You tell them they lose and they have no idea how to handle it. You wanna be good parents? Tell your kids how it is, and don't sugar-coat things like winning and losing. It's better for them.

Parents that think spanking is child abuse need tp be smacked
To any parent who believes it is abuse to spank a child for wrong-doing, you seriously need to get real. First off, there is a VERY big difference between spankig and abuse, and it takes a lot to cross that line. Spanking is to show negative result to an action, and does not cause any harm, physically or emotionally to a child. I'm seventeen and was always spanked as a child. And you know what? I have nothing but respect for my mother and father. Not fear, not anger, respect.
The stereotype that parents always spank a child in anger and always go overboard is total crap. It doesn't happen except maybe with one parent out of one hundred. Those who arghe 'alternative forms' of punishment, you need to get real. Do you know what kids do when you send them to their room? They find something to amuse themselves. Even if you make them sit in the corner, a child can find amusement in ANYTHING. Even their feet and hands. That's alwo why taking things away doesn't work as punishment. Kids will find something else to amuse themselves. Why do you think the same teenagers are always sent to detention in school over and over? Because, detention is just another form of time out, and does nothing to teach.
Here's a thought for you. Take two lab mice, give them each a maze. On one, every time the mouse goes the wrong way, take him out, and isolate him in a box for ten minutes. On the other, make it so every time the second mouse goes the wrong way, it recies a small electric shock. Not enough to cause pain, but enough to get the mouse to register it. Now tell me, which mouse is gonna learn quicker which paths are the wrong paths.
This is just like a kid. You need to be firm with kids, or they won't learn anything.
Now I'm not gonna put every child in that category. Some kids that aren't spanked turn out just fine. To that I say, there is an exception to every rule. But I'll tell you right now, spanking a kid is not abuse, and if you believe it is, you're a delusional moron.
